Ways of Giving

Gifts of Life Insurance

Life Insurance gifts allow you to make a substantial gift to The Glaucoma Foundation with a relatively modest annual expense. These gifts can name The Foundation as beneficiary or owner and beneficiary.

Naming The Foundation as Beneficiary
By naming The Glaucoma Foundation as a beneficiary, you retain ownership of your policy and do not receive a charitable deduction upon your designation of the charitable beneficiary. However, you do retain access to the policy’s cash value and your estate will be entitled to an estate tax deduction upon your death.

Naming The Foundation as Owner & Beneficiary
If you choose to name The Glaucoma Foundation as the irrevocable owner and beneficiary to an insurance policy, then you will receive more immediate tax benefits. Under federal law, you are allowed to take a tax deduction for the premiums paid each year.

For more details on naming The Glaucoma Foundation as a beneficiary, please contact the Office of Foundation Advancement at 212-285-0080 or giving@glaucomafoundation.org
